Title: Join us for SOLIDWORKS Largest User Group Meeting Ever! (SLUGME)
Date & Time: Tue, Nov 17, 2020 @ 5:00 PM CST
Duration: 3 Hours
5:00-5:15 – Welcome
5:15-6:00 – Using SOLIDWORKS Connected at Omax Waterjets: The Engineering group at Omax Waterjets has used SOLIDWORKS on their desktop for nearly 20 years. Now, they’re starting to empower their engineering technicians with the CAD cloud and data management tools available on the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform. Join us for a look at a pilot project where “Cloud meets Desktop”. Components and assemblies for Omax’s newest generation of waterjet machinery, designed with SOLIDWORKS on the desktop, are handed off to engineering technicians to build and test new designs using apps from the 3DCREATOR and Business Collaborator roles on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. You may have seen these workflows in demos before – now you can see them in the real world.
Presented by: Eric Beatty, one of the longest running continuous SOLIDWORKS users, having used the software every day of his professional life since March 1996. As an educator at North Seattle Community College, Eric founded SASPUG, the very 1st SOLIDWORKS user group and is currently a Senior Mechanical Designer for Omax Corp., a leading manufacturer of CNC abrasive waterjet machining centers spotlighted in the SOLIDWORKS 2020 rollout. He resumed leadership of SASPUG in 2017, is a Certified SOLIDWORKS Expert, and was recently honored to be included among the first group of SOLIDWORKS user Champions.
6:00-6:15 – Q&A
6:15-6:30 – Break
6:30-7:15 – Trees of Blood: We have all been there: we make a necessary change to a design, and the feature tree “blows-up” with rebuild errors. This session covers how to quickly and painlessly repair rebuild errors in part models by understanding why they happen and discussing tips, tricks, and techniques to repair them fast without ever having to delete and recreate anything.
The discussion also highlights proven modeling habits that prevent rebuild errors in the first place.
Most importantly, you’ll learn to just calm down when your feature trees erupt in blood. Most errors can be fixed in seconds (when you know how) so you can get back to your job designing stuff.
Presented by: Ed Eaton, SOLIDWORKS user and Sr. Industrial Designer and partner with the Dimonte Group, a product development consultancy firm. Ed has been dealing with and beating rebuild errors in SOLIDWORKS for 23 years. Through his work with more than one hundred companies, Ed has seen a wide spectrum of modeling issues and practices that needed to be worked through to successfully deliver final product designs. In the SOLIDWORKS community, he is recognized as a compelling speaker at more than 15 SOLIDWORKS World events in the past, as well as his presentations at SOLIDWORKS user groups in the U.S.
7:15-7:45 – Q&A
7:45 on – Stump the Chumps
We’ll be joined by SOLIDWORKS User Groups worldwide – don’t miss out on SOLIDWORKS Largest User Group Meeting Ever – looking forward to seeing you there!
